Overview

Nestled in the heart of Modena at Piazza Grande, 26, Caffe Concerto Modena presents itself as more than just a restaurant—it is a refined destination for those seeking a blend of local flavors and a vibrant social atmosphere. This establishment captures the essence of Modena with its elegant interior overlooking the historic square, making it a perfect spot to indulge while savoring views of the iconic Duomo.

The culinary offerings at Caffe Concerto Modena emphasize regional richness, showcasing classic Italian fare such as pizza, primi and secondi dishes, alongside specialties like grilled chicken and the much-praised panna cotta. Their signature “welcome plate” is a harmonious appetizer featuring Parmesan from Parma and balsamic vinegar from Modena, delivering a genuine taste of Emilia-Romagna’s finest. For those with a sweet tooth, La Cioccolata Calda is a decadent choice, perfectly balancing the meal.

What sets this venue apart is its dual identity as both an upscale restaurant and a cultural hub. The presence of live piano performances adds a melodic backdrop that enhances the sophisticated yet welcoming ambiance. Guests often linger for hours, embracing the leisurely pace as they enjoy an extensive wine selection and aperitivi, including expertly crafted spritz cocktails. This makes it an ideal place for memorable social occasions, from intimate lunches to celebratory dinners.

The spacious and calm environment, supported by attentive and friendly staff, caters to a discerning crowd—the social elite of Modena as noted by visitors. While many come to relish the à la carte menu, others delight in the lunchtime buffet, which offers a broad range of pastas, seafood, and more, allowing for a varied and satisfying experience. The balance of excellent service, refined culinary choices, and an unbeatable location positions Caffe Concerto Modena as a must-visit for both locals and travelers eager to immerse themselves in the city’s gastronomic and cultural pulse.

Right in the city center of Piazza Grande, this restaurant offers great views inside seating and out. As this is a hotspot, they are always busy and the staff is equally as busy, sit back and enjoy your 2-3 hour experience, this is not quick serve. They offer a huge selection of wines. All the dishes were rich in flavor. You just have to smile at the basket of their signature bread, of a breadbasket. My favorite listing on the menu is the "welcome plate" an appetizer offering app bites of the region, Parmesan cheese, from nearby Parma & Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, which is delightful for any tourist coming in to this upscale restaurant.

Had a lovely lunch at this location. They have a buffet for €20, but we opted for ala carte. The fish we had with a side of veggie was delicious. The fish was flakey and melted in our mouths. Great location and superb service.

Really welcoming and friendly staff, great selection of pastries, and well-made coffee that I asked for! Spacious and calm atmosphere. Great view from the windows toward the side of the Duomo (cathedral).

The Concerto isn't a café for everybody: it's a gathering point for Modena's social elite. This is best exemplified with the prices of the food and the drinks. Nevertheless, you do get live music and a very refined atmosphere, with stunning views over the main square. Overall, a great venue for a great occasion (such as your anniversary). And may I add, the buffet at lunchtime (€17.50 for students) is unbelievable!

I LIKED THIS PLACE. VISITED ON A LUNCHTIME WHEN IT IS A KIND OF BUFFET STYLE, WHERE YOU CAN TRY ALL THE DISHES FROM PASTAS TOO SEAFOOD, ETC. THERE WAS ALSO A PIANO PLAYER WHO WAS VERY GOOD. (HENCE THE NAME CONCERTO).

Perfect service, friendly staff, wonderful wine and snacks with a very chilled vibe. A very nice relaxing hour or two. Music changed around 8pm to upbeat, that’s when we left as it ruined our relaxing vibe a little but other than that, we can’t fault it!

We had a nice buffet there (€12 per person). I asked for non alcoholic mocktail with strawberry and mint…it was AMAZING! yet a bit expensive (€9). Nice employees.
